Protection from Animals
Every once in awhile there is a story in the news about a vicious dog
attacking someone. Can we be protected against such an attack? The
answer is yes. God is always with us no matter where we are.
I had proof of God's protection from being attacked by a dog. I would
often walk pass a neighbors' yard on my way home from work. Their dog
was often loose and would run out of the yard barking at me. He would
run towards me and begin to nip very close to my leg. I began to be
afraid of walking pass this house.
I realized I had to see this dog not as a vicious beast but as an idea of
God. As an idea of God he was harmless because God would never make one
creation to harm another creation. I could not be afraid of anything
that God made, including this dog. This sentence from Mary Baker's book
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures came to my thought. "A
man's gaze, fastened fearlessly on a ferocious beast, often causes the
beast to retreat in terror."(378:14-16)
The dog was sensing my fear of him. I must make this dog see that I have
dominion. I have dominion at all times because God is with me
always. I
am fearless because right where that dog is barking at me God is there.
He is governing me and He is also governing that dog.
A few days later I was passing by where the dog lived and he again came
charging towards me barking and showing his teeth at me. This time I was
unimpressed. When he got up close to me I stopped and look right at him.
I said to him I am not going to harm you nor am I going to harm the
loved ones whom you feel you are protecting. This property is your
domain and I am not going to trespass on it. However you are not aloud
to go out of your domain towards me. Is this understood? The dog
looked
at me like he understood everything I said. He went back to his property
with out a bark. From then on when I went by he would bark but would
never get any closer to me then the end of his property.
Daniel it is told in the Bible, was put in a den of lions all night long
because he did not obey an unjustified law. He always prayed to God each
day. He trusted God with everything in his life. He knew even in
the
mist of a loins' den God would be caring and protecting him. Daniel was
unharmed by the lions. Daniel said: "My God hath sent his angel, and
hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as
before him innocency was found in me;"(Dan. 6:22)
We are all innocent as the children of God and therefore need not to be
afraid of being harmed. We are never alone not even in the middle of a
lions' den or in front of a vicious animal. God good is with us always.
We can always trust in Him.
