God Protects Our Child

In the news there are many stories about children being kidnapped.
Children seem so innocent without any means of protecting themselves.
Many parents are enrolling their children in self-defense classes.
However, the best protection for your child is your active prayer for
him.

This prayer can start out with turning your child over to God. God being
the creator of man is really then the true parent of man. He loves His
child and will not allow any harm to come to him. The prophet Isaiah has
this comforting thought for parents. "Fear thou not; for I am with thee:
be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea I will
help thee; yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my
righteousness."(Isa. 41:10) God is the only power governing your
children. He will uphold your children in the right hand of His
righteousness. Evil has no power over you or your children. Since it
does not come from God it cannot be part of God"s universe, the only
universe that man dwells in.

God is with His children at all times and under all circumstances. We
have nothing to fear because God is protecting our children right this
very moment. My mother-in-law had proof of God's protection for her
children. One day, she took her two children to go shopping with her.
She said her little girl four years old was mischievous so she had to
watch her all the time. Her little boy was two years old was very
obedient and always by her side. All at once she realized the boy was
gone. She began to look for the boy and called his name. He was nowhere
to be found. She became fearful and thought perhaps he had wandered into
the parking lot and was hurt.

She began to check those fearful thoughts. God was protecting her son
from all harm. God knows exactly where this child is and God will
reveal to her where he is. There is no place this child can be but in
the arms of divine love. She was thinking of going to the lost and found
to find the boy; instead the thought came to her to go to the candy
counter to look for him. When she got to the candy department she saw
her child holding hands with some man. She grabbed her son from the man
and took her two children back to the car to go home. As she drove home
the boy told her that the nice man was going to buy him some candy and
then take him for a ride in his car. She then realized that the man
could have kidnapped her son. Her prayer to God protected her son from
being kidnapped.

The Bible has stories that show how angel messages given to parents
protect their children. Moses' mother was lead by God to put her son in
a basket and push him down stream. He was protected from being killed
and was raised by a king to be a leader of men. David and Mary had an
angel message to take their young child Jesus out of Bethlehem and move
temporarily to Egypt. This angel message saved their son from a wicked
ruler who had plans to kill Jesus.

Mary Baker Eddy in her book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
defines angels as: "God's thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions,
pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality,
counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality."(581:4-7)

Turning to God quiets our fears about our children. We know that our
children are not alone but are surrounded in the protecting arms of their
Father. Our prayer to God gives us a solution in times of crises. The
answer to our prayer will often be in a form of an angel message such as
came to my mother-in-law or what came to the parents of Moses and Jesus.
God will never let you down. Remember a Proverbs' advice: "Trust in the
Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In
all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."(Proverbs
3:5,6)
